Matariki Star Cookies recipe

This Matariki Star Cookies recipe has the addition of citrus zest, bringing in a taste of the season that is perfect for a Matariki Winter celebration!

Also known as Pihikete whetū, these Matariki star cookies are best made with intention to share with whānau and friends.
Shaping them with star cookie cutters makes for an extra fun Matariki activity for small hands.

I like to think of my children sharing these cookies with their elders, or even better: making and eating them together.
Great to make in the classroom or playgroup too!
